Community Services and Acts of Charitable Notability

District Lodge 161 and all affiliated Local Lodges are proud to be a part of their respective communities and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of workers and their families everywhere. One way we do this is in the form of voluntary donations. We would like to remind our members of the goodwill that their hard-earned-dollars-turned-dues-money generates not only in our communities but for the good of mankind as well. A few are listed below:

  • Guide Dogs of America raises and trains dogs to enable a blind or visually impaired person to live more independently. These dogs are introduced and donated to a person with whom they are well-suited.

  • City of Hope is a cancer research center dedicated to advancing the medical field in the quest for curing cancer patients who are terminally ill.

  • Strike Assistance for workers while on strike.

  • Scholarship/Essay contests for the graduating seniors of members.

  • Hog Raffle purchases a hog from a child participating in the 4-H Livestock Show and Rodeo.  The hog raffle is self-supported through the sale of raffle tickets.

  • Little League donations.
