Local 470 is hosting a Red, White, Blue
& Union 4th
of July Family Day Rally
in support of the strike against
PPG. Come out to the Ponderosa Park
in Westlake and bring your family for hot
dogs and chips. Please bring your
own drinks. We are asking all bike
owners to show their support by riding
their motorcycles to this event.

BBQ Dinner-June
28, 2006 6:30 AM-On July
7 there will be a Bar-B-Q dinner
provided by USW Local 13-500 (CITCON)
for Local 470 members. Lunch will be
served form 12:00pm till 1:00pm at
the Local 470 Union Hall. Please
RSVP Friday or Saturday when picking
up strike benefit checks or by phone
(433-2000) by June 30. This will
ensure enough food is prepared for
those that will attend.

Assistance Committee-June
27, 2006 8:20 PM-The
Strike Assistance Committee has had
their initial meetings, have
received and reviewed requests for
assistance. Checks have been cut
from funds donated by outside
supporters for those in severe need.
Additional meetings will be held
each Wednesday from 4:00 PM until
7:00 PM. If you are in need of
assistance or know someone who is in
severe need have them come to the
Local 470 hall at 330 Belden St. in
Lake Charles. The phone number is
433-2000.

were fired and told they could
reapply at a lower pay rate. Another
example of PPG's corporate greed!
More money for them less for the
working man or woman.

Live Band Fundraiser-June
23, 2006 6:30 AM-Benefit
Dance with live band will take place
tonight (June 23 @7:30pm) at West
Cal Arena in Sulphur. Local 470
members get in free. Others pay
$7.00 for individual and $10.00 for
couple. Come out and enjoy a night
out with co-workers and local
community and Union supporters.
Everybody
should attend, this benefit
is to help the members of Local 470!

Insurance-June
23, 2006 6:30 AM-Any
employee that has in force insurance
coverage from American Income Life
Insurance Company or has dropped the
coverage since the strike started
can have the premiums waived and
coverage continued. Strike Waiver
Cards are available at the Union
Hall at 330 Belden St. in Lake
Charles.

PPG Meeting-June
20, 2006 8:55 PM-The
Federal Mediator participating in
the Negotiations between IAM Local
470 and PPG has requested meetings
between the two parties. Both
parties have agreed to these
mediated meetings. The meetings are
scheduled to take place on July 5
and July 6.

Live Band Fund Raiser-June

Friday June 23, 2006 at 7:30 pm
there will be a live
band to raise funds to help the
members of IAM Local 470 during the
strike against PPG. The fund raiser will
be held at the West Cal-Cam Arena in
Sulphur,
LA.
Members of IAM Local 470 will get
in free. We want as many members to
attend as possible, to meet and
interact with the other Union
members and supporters from the
Community and have fun while we
celebrate solidarity.

Fund Raiser Success-June

plate lunch fund raiser has sold out
to local industries workers and
community supporters. The lunches
which were prepared by Hollier’s
Cajun Kitchen in
Sulphur.
Delivery will be on Thursday June
15.

Union Hall Friday June 16, 2006
from 10:00 AM till 8:00 PM. If you
cannot pickup your check during
these hours call the hall to make
other arrangements.
Informational meetings-June

330 Beldon
Street in
Lake Charles
where the Negotiating Committee will
be available to answer questions.

going around that the negotiating
committee is being paid that rumor
is false! Also the rumor that the
plant is at 100% capacity that is
also false! Be careful about what
you hear some people do not want you
to know the truth. Also
EVERYBODY

noon!

shack Tuesday around noon for
anybody that wants to go. Come by eat and
